About
In the context of the growing discussion around the racial wealth gap, we founded the Socioeconomic Justice Society to be a voice and resource alike for university students wanting to make change. We want to empower our peers to learn more about wealth inequality and get directly involved in local and state legislation that makes meaningful reforms.

Our home, the University of Colorado- Boulder, is a predominantly affluent, white, and privileged institution, like the majority of four-year colleges in the United States. Boulder, like CU, is mostly affluent and white. The cost of living in Boulder is exorbitant. The cost of attending CU, likewise, is prohibitive. In fact, the number of undergraduate Pell Grant recipients has gone down 3% in the last decade. We want to uplift the voices of those students and their needs within the CU Boulder community and beyond.

Further, we believe that racial inequality is inextricably tied to wealth inequality. Therefore, dismantling system racism is core to our mission… and attacking systemic racism means addressing the lack of diversity and integration at CU and beyond.

We hope you can join us in our fight.

“Stop thinking about how we should reform the existing systems… how can we re-imagine the system and make a new, better one? It’s about creativity."
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower CU students to seek justice and equality beyond university campuses. We want our members to become agents of change, sharing our vision through education, community involvement, direct legislative action, and the promotion of individual and institutional accountability.
Our Vision
Our vision is to strive for an equitable US where liberty and justice for all applies regardless of socioeconomic background: by the elimination of the racial wealth gap, exploitative labor, and other oppressive systems; and reimagining of accountability, educational opportunities, social mobility, and legislation.
